The ability to password-protect iWeb-Sites is only available to those that publish to .Mac. Even though iWeb does not offer this ability to those who publish to a folder, it does not mean that it is not possible. This tutorial will show you how to easily protect your site with a password and an username.

For this tutorial, we will be using a free application called iTweak. It has been made to simplify such additions to the iWeb application and so it is just perfect to use.

Please note that this tutorial is only available to those who publish to a folder and upload to a server that is capable of running .htaccess files. Please ask your hosting service first before you start this tutorial.

So let’s get right started!

Just a few minutes I got notified from a friend that while he was searching for my app on Google, he had found links to torrents for iMap.
Torrents are files that link several computers together and allow to easily share files (i.e.: my app!). Take a look at the Wikipedia article for more info. Basically, you can share files the big-scale-illegal way!

Wow! I guess it’s a bit of a shock for me. I wouldn’t have really expected that iMap would be findable on illegal sharing sites within 5 months since it’s introduction - I actually haven’t imagined this in worlds! iMap isn’t really the biggest app that’s around and so I find it even more shocking that even the smallest apps on the planet have sky-rocketing chances of being found on illegal sites. And guys, the price isn’t that expensive, is it? 8.99€?

From Cabel Sassers C4 video I learnt that trying to fight these illegal guys is close to being impossible. Making a simple shareware registration framework with a online database is the best way to go and it will keep off most people. Though, as always, there are exceptions! Some just rob for fun, steal for fun or hack for fun … I can quote Cabel here (LOL - it’s not exactly what he said - but kind-of-ish):

The same amount of fun you have trying to secure your app, the same amount do the hackers have hacking it

Let’s make life harder here! The iMap distribution (getting the full version of iMap once paid) wasn’t the best method I could have chosen and that’s why I’ll go ahead and change that right now. For all real iMap customers, you will see an update with registration codes coming soon. Again, they can be hacked - but it at least stops the standard sharing over torrents and if you are capable of hacking such things, then all hope is lost!

For all those who are hacking, cracking and stealing in the digital world: It might be easier to steal a piece of software than robbing the local bank - but it’s the same thing! You might think you ain’t leaving traces or no one will notice but guess what, even I can look up IP addresses so it won’t be that hard for me to figure who bought iMap and then shared it. At some point you will have to pay for your thievery.

You can find the tutorials right here and here. Sorry for those who might have tried to do the tutorials but failed cause my videos weren’t up.

Have you ever wanted one of those fascinating contact forms right in your site? It isn’t that hard if you code your sites yourself - but with iWeb, getting and adding one becomes a bit more difficult. With this tutorial, I will aim to show you in a very simple way how to easily and rapidly add a cool PHP contact form right to your iWebsite.

For this tutorial, we will be using a free application called iTweak. You can go ahead and download it right here.

Please note that this tutorial will require the use of a PHP capable server. Otherwise, the tutorial and the form will not work. .Mac, sadly, is not capable of PHP. All those who don’t have PHP support, can take a look at a simple HTML snippet ready code from Wufoo.

The finished form will have a name, email, website field and a textarea for people to type their message. The style will apply to the theme you are using in iWeb. Simply try it out and you’ll see how it looks.
