Two Videos Back up!

I had somehow deleted two greatly appreciated videos from my server … dunno why – but they are back up there now!
You can find the tutorials right here and here. Sorry for those who might have tried to do the tutorials but failed cause my videos weren’t up.

Adding Haloscan Comments to iWeb

UPDATE: Haloscan has been purchased by JS-Kit. Hence, Haloscan is out of service and you can only use JS-Kit to add comments to iWeb. There is a new tutorial that will show you how to do this.

Are you one of those users who would wish to have comments integrated right into your site but you are publishing to a folder and so you can’t do that? Or you just want to use the awesome technology of Halscan to power your comments? This tutorial will show you in an extremely easy way how to do this!

For this tutorial, we will be using a free application called iTweak. It has been made to simplify such additions to the iWeb application and so it is just perfect to use.

So let’s get right started!

Adding a Contact Form to iWeb

Have you ever wanted one of those fascinating contact forms right in your site? It isn’t that hard if you code your sites yourself – but with iWeb, getting and adding one becomes a bit more difficult. With this tutorial, I will aim to show you in a very simple way how to easily and rapidly add a cool PHP contact form right to your iWebsite.

For this tutorial, we will be using a free application called iTweak. You can go ahead and download it right here.

Please note that this tutorial will require the use of a PHP capable server. Otherwise, the tutorial and the form will not work. .Mac, sadly, is not capable of PHP. All those who don’t have PHP support, can take a look at a simple HTML snippet ready code from Wufoo.

The finished form will have a name, email, website field and a textarea for people to type their message. The style will apply to the theme you are using in iWeb. Simply try it out and you’ll see how it looks.

See the demo page for the result.

Developing iWebShowCase

I know, I know, I know! Instead of fixing up the existing sites, I am creating one new one after the other one.

My new site that will be coming up is a Showcase site for sites created in iWeb. It will allow anyone to submit their site and if it is visually interesting, I will add it up to the gallery.

Let me know what you think about this by chatting about it in the comments section. Thanks!

“iPhoney” Dilemma

Having bought an iPod touch shortly after it’s introduction in late 2007, I have a short while ago moved to an iPhone. There are not many differences, the only thing that’s different is that you get to telephone and have EDGE. Let my explain my story of how it went:

I was excited about the new touch interface stuff from Apple and I just had to have something. Wether the iPhone or the iPod – just something! My old phone wasn’t working anymore and so a iPhone seemed very lucrative. Though, the prices were just stunning high and I wasn’t ready to buy it with that price. That would have been over 1300$ a year and I could have invested that money in much better things.
So I went ahead and bought the iPod touch. Great thing! It was thin, had touch and with 8GB then, had more than space than what I needed. Of course I would have liked to have it at 80GB so I can get all my movies onto it – but that is just how Apple went with it.
Then, about a month ago, my old phone broke completely. The iPhone has become to the most hacked product ever made by Apple and with all the jailbreaks and what-their-called, made it extremely easy to just use the phone in any country with any SIM and provider.
I went ahead sold my iPod touch and bought an american iPhone over eBay. Dead easy and the thing was in my house within two days.
Now I am on the iPhone and I really regret buying an iPod touch first, because I wasted 300$ (not completely wasted, the fun was there) and then added 400$ for an iPhone. Now that I think about it, I could have bought the iPhone then, not phone with it (aka have just the iPod touch features) and later jailbreak it.

I would like to warn anyone who is interested in buying an iPod touch. If you have the slightest notion of wanting an iPhone at some point in the future, then spend the extra 100$ on the iPhone rather than buying both the iPod touch and iPhone together. I really recommend that! Don’t go through the dilemma that I had! :-D
