A Shift For The Software

It’s a long time since I have ever posted some new news for this site. I did mention quite a while ago that I was a bit confused on how to continue this site. It ended up that many of those comments on that post (and suggestions through emails) have helped me to get aimed into the correct direction.
One thing that bugged many, including me, was that the software pages weren’t put together that well and that it looks as if I don’t care. I wasn’t angry at that, I mean, the way I promote iTweak and iMap are surely not the best ways. The site really looks that I don’t care about iMap and iTweak, which of course is not the direction I wanted to be heading and needs to be fixed as soon as possible.
After having been so busy for the past weeks, I haven’t thought about my sites in any way, I am now on the way to getting things fixed. I’m not expecting to get everything finished completely in the next weeks as I still have lot’s of busy stuff coming up – but at least get started.
The first step will be the software site for both iMap and iTweak. The new site is Famside, which lends itself to being my software company. Along with getting the site out there, I’ve got updates for both iMap and iTweak ready as well. They will no longer be the small and ugly apps – but be powerful and look amazing with lot’s of great graphics and CoreAnimation. The futures coming…. :-D

iTweak “Options” Change

Having just released the latest version of iTweak, I now realize that I have caused some confusion amongst the new interface.
All of you were used to having to select the options that iTweak should complete, in the separate “Options” panel, looking like this:

After the 1.4.5 update, I removed this window and attached the checkmarks to the main window itself, now clearly separating which text-fields are for what and when they need to be used.

The idea has never changed, you still have to tick the options you want iTweak to complete. Excuse for the problems it might have caused, I will put a note on the tutorials about that.

Password-Protect iWeb Sites

The ability to password-protect iWeb-Sites is only available to those that publish to .Mac. Even though iWeb does not offer this ability to those who publish to a folder, it does not mean that it is not possible. This tutorial will show you how to easily protect your site with a password and an username.

For this tutorial, we will be using a free application called iTweak. It has been made to simplify such additions to the iWeb application and so it is just perfect to use.

Please note that this tutorial is only available to those who publish to a folder and upload to a server that is capable of running .htaccess files. Please ask your hosting service first before you start this tutorial.
