I think it’s worth to mention the GPS capability of the new iPhone. I fortunately didn’t buy an iPhone yet because it wasn’t available in Switzerland and I didn’t want to hack it and be able to use only half of its functions.
With the price cut it lost part of its “Exclusivity” *sniff* on the other hand great for me as my Stocks aren’t doing well… *hehe*
I think the new MobileMe is great but I’m afraid of having to rewrite all the iWeb tutorials. But they mention that people can still use their addresses they own now and the .mac servers will still be up… That’s where I got confused… And thought that maybe I will need instructions for MobileMe AND .mac… We will see…
I stayed up until 3 a.m. to see the Keynote… I’m pretty tired :-) Didn’t Steve look a bit tired and weak? An ageing icon is still an icon… I hope he’s fine…
    Greetings from Switzerland,
    Cédric

Has anyone heard if former iPhone users will be able to get a software update that will offer the new speedy services ie. 3G? Or is the platform completely different? Will apple offer this upgrade, or a service to convert the iPhone to the 3G iPhone capabilities?

Like you, I have had mine for only 3 months, so it would be nice to have access to the new cool stuff, but with my “old” iPhone.

@Cedric - I’m actually one of those freaks who is paying the contract with t-mobile :-D The GPS is definitely a nice addon and as I’ll get that new iPhone in any case. The exclusiveness loss is weird that you mention it because it really is a product that not everyone has. Now that it’s so cheap, Apple is entering a market way earlier than in the way that they have done with the iPod. I think it is a bit to overeager and might just end that the iPhone will fall into this large basket of already existing smartphones…
I watched the keynote via Macrumorslive actually … gonna watch the vid right now :-D People say Steve got thinner and think he’s sick or .. tired .. looks like it - but I think hes doing well. He rocks :-D I mean hes in his sixties. Acceptable for people to be called old and frail at that age I guess. haha

@Scott - Yeah, the software update will get the AppStore and other new software based features onto iPhones and iPod Touches for free - but the 3G and GPS is hardware. That cannot be updated. G3, is basically a better satellite internet connection than EDGE (what the current iPhone has).
