iMap 2.1 Is now here (or there)

This is gonna be be the last of these fast coming updates with iMap. I am tired of it, and you are probably tired of having to download them and use those new features. :-D

iMap 2.1 is just fixing some security holes as well as a sitemap error. The LAST sitemap error I hope. I think no one will get errors with sitemaps in the future because the creation is now perfect. I have changed it so many times – that it simply must work!

Again – not just invisible things that have changed, Hans van Houtem and myself have added Dutch and German localizations.

Anyone who is interested in making localizations – go ahead and shoot me a mail.

Like always, updates are distributed via e-mails. They went out today! :-D

Introducing: iMap 2.0

I am very proud to announce that iMap has been updated to version 2.0 It now includes several ground-breaking new features and eases the whole use of the Get on Google process.

So let’s talk about the new stuff. The previous updates were just made to solve some minor issues with the sitemaps. The exact wants from Google were just to inexact and so I had some problems to get the perfect sitemaps. Now I finally, at least I think, I know how Google wants the Sitemaps.

But what is new with iMap 2.0? Take a look at a full blown screenshot of the main window, by clicking here.

  • Better and more powerful Sitemaps
  • Now create Robots.txt files to counter those from .Mac*
  • Add Meta-Tags
  • Create Google Verification Files
  • Ping the Google Robots to check your Site
  • Enhanced and faster working

And the best, thing, you will not have to do all the steps all the time. You can do each thing separatley. So you could just create a sitemap, or just add meta-tags along with creating the Google Verification File.

So check your mails today and you should get a e-mail with a download link for iMap 2.0!

Now, let’s move on to the tutorials. The tutorials will be updated very soon – but I simply did not have any time yet to do so.

There are also some know issues with iMap 2.0 They are not major and most of you will not get them in any case! Take a look at them, by downloading the file. The issues are also addressed in the FAQ section.

I hope you enjoy the new iMap!

iMap Updated to Version 1.3

There you go, I had a little error in the sitemaps that iMap produces! This made it impossible for Google to read the sitemap. There error was this little thing here:

<urlset xmlns="http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap/0.9">

It shouldn’t be 0.9 but 0.84. Well I changed it now and the new sitemaps with iMap 1.3 should work.

Thanks Steve for pointing this bug out to me!

Please download this update! All those who have purchased iMap should have recieved a e-mail with a download link! To ensure that you will get on Google, make sure you have iMap 1.3!!!

If you did not recieve a download e-mail, then contact me right away and tell me. Paste the transaction ID into the e-mail so I can verify that you have bought iMap.

Sorry for these fast updates here :-D

iMap Updated to Version 1.2

Oh god, just released iMap 1.1 and then there are even more things to fix here! I didn’t know that making software is such a pain in the ass. Well actually it’s not pain, it’s fun.

So, here is some history to why there is the new version! iMap relied it’s sitemap creation on a file called “feed.xml.” This file longer does what iMap needed it for, so Jay and myself changed the way it creates the sitemaps. It now get’s even the most unkown Archive page of your Blog, which before it didn’t. Sorry :-P

In any case, those who have bought iMap 1.1 or any earlier versions, you’ll be getting an e-mail in the next 96 hours with a new download to iMap 1.2.

If you don’t have iMap, then don’t waste any time and buy it right now! Check it out here.

UPDATE: I am trying to add German and French localizations as well. Let’s see if I get that in!
