Where do I get iTunes Movie Artwork?
21 Mar '08 Filed under iTunes -
What annoys me with Apple and all of the DVD companies is that they still think that world will only watch them in their DVD player. No, about half of us would rip them and place them in iTunes. They are legally bought via Amazon (like I do) - but they simply do not contain any version of the movie that can simply used for iTunes.
Okay, that’s the time when ripping comes into play!
Here is a tutorial on how to rip movies for iTunes.
Though, the worst of all is the fact that there are no digital movie covers for the ripped movies!!! So I searched and searched for a way to get the album covers.
Amazon was always to be found - but their covers are small and usually with some 20% off sticker on it and lot’s of other annoyances. So forget Amazon!
Luckily, I found two great options:
- Well, one, there is this website called Josh’s Album Art Grabber. You simply place the URL of the album you want and the machine get’s the cover. Sadly enough, movie covers end up very small.
Though, for songs, this is a great resource and way better than those applications where you have to pay for them to grab images from Google. - The best option for movie covers is a huge Macrumors thread which shares all sorts of movie covers in the full iTunes quality. Lovely! Check it out here. This iPodTouchFans forums post has some posters as well.
- Recommended from one of my friends, Raffael, is a german website about movie news. They, Moviemaze, have a huge database of all movie posters and wallpapers. The site is quite a good collection if the Macrumors thread does not have the cover, then I’d suggest you take a look in there and crop your posters in iPhoto to the format 667px wide and 1000px high.
Once you have your cover, simply paste that into the “Get-Info” window in iTunes.
