Hopefully, This is not some April Fools Joke, iTweak sounds great, i tried opening it before and nothing happened; tried it again now, and it comes up with a message saying “…because it may be damaged or incomplete.” Any ideas?

Sorry guys! I accidentally made it Leopard only. It should now work. Make sure the file is named exactly “iTweak.app”

Just downloaded it, Opens fine; only thing is: I’ve tried following the instructions, but for some reason, the favicon is not appearing on my web page.

Worked out the problem, was putting the FTP address rather than the http://... address. One thing that i did find a pain was that when an error occurred, I had to force quit iTweak, as it just froze; anyway of changing it so that it stops trying to carry out the actions?

Tim - are you on .Mac? The favicon should appear after you clear your cache and try it with a few browsers. Of course, you need the correct URL.

This application is great!
I have two things that mite be good to include in the next update, both quite small things.
1. Add a cancel box so when you process your site you can cancel it and maybe edit something..

I have leopard. i tried downloading this several times. I just bought my mac and want to build a website on iweb, but can’t figure out how to do html. I thought itweak might help, but I cannot open it , It says apple script error - something about it not being defined. Can you help me?

The first time I add the favicon to my webside (.mac) it worked perfect. After I add somthing to it, I tried to get the favicon back to the webside, but didn’t work. Tried it serveral times.

hi, i downloaded iTweak and tried to integrate with HaloScan comments. Once i clicked ‘process site’, it seems to be taking ages to process and after more than an hour i’ve to force-quit the program as it seems to have stopped responding. What’s wrong?

Zac - I am just writing you a mail about this. The problem is that imap writes this file for some reason in a way, iTweak does not like it. I am planning to update iMap for that!
Erik - It seems like you are using Safari. Its probably a Cache issue. Try viewing your site on a different mac and browser. See if it works that way.

seems i’m set to add my favicon to my .mac site
all good up to when i hit hit” process to site” button, processing starts then an error message -apple script error -” the variable the_site_folder is not defined (-2753)”

Hey Max! I think iTweak is a great idea. Sorry to say it is highly unstable for me. I tried your tutorial, als it did NOT work. Also I have no “options” button. What the heck dude? Where did you put that bad boy? I reinstalled it but to no avail! IS 1.4.5 the latest model? Are you like that guy MAD MAX? All joking aside if you could send me the version with Options I will send you some cake, cool?

James - sorry for the confusion there. In the new version you can tick the option right above the textfields and thus, there is no need for the separate options window (and the button).

Nice piece of software. But how do I have it count stats on more than one site?
I got it to work with statcounter on my main site hosted on .mac and built in iWeb, but I want to track a secondary site on .mac and built in iWeb.
But when I open iTweak it just has the first site I did already. Is it a one time operation so if I delete the code field and paste in new code for other site and redirect it it does not screw up older site stat counting?

Dennis,
You will have to paste in the code for each site. Then just choose the site to which you would like to add the code.
If you want to add the code for all your sites, then instead of choosing your site, choose the folder that governs all the published ones.
Hope that made sense. I think I talked a bit weird….

I’m not an expert on iWeb, but I managed to make a web site.
I used your iWeb Expander to create a favicon for my site and it worked well. However, since a switched to iTweak, I’ve been having some problems. I wanted to recreate a favicon and to add a statcounter code. In iTweak everything went smoothly, but when I went to Firefox/Safari to check-out my site before I publish it finally some of my pages were lost. Links were OK, but the .html pages were empty.
Since I’m not the expert in the field, I really need your help to solve this if possible. I can of course republish my site without favicon and statcounter, but it would be much better if you could help me solve the problem.

iTweak freezes every time I try to select my published site. It will let me get to my idisk folder but as soon as I click on Web it’s done. I made sure I’m using the latest version etc. What am I doing wrong because everyone else seems to be able to get it to work and your forums say you’ve got the freezing issues sorted out????

hi, i use iTweak to add comments on my sites published via dotMac. I used to be able to embed the comments, however, recently iTweak has not been successful. I keep getting an error message for adding comments. What may be the problem? is there a limit to pages?
Ryan - for me, iTweak doesn’t exactly freeze but the screen does look frozen, sometimes it takes me about half an hour just waiting for iTweak to select site.

Terrific program and by the look of the posts above congrats on being so helpful to all. I have a straight forward question. I have used itweak to embed google analytics and favicon to my site. If I now make adjustments to my travel diary page and publish just that page to .mac rather than select the ‘publish all to .mac’ option do I still need to run your program again? I am hoping I can make additions to this page without needing to run itweak each time as it takes some time. Thanks, Chris

@ Anthony - iT works with anything bigger than 10.4.1.
@ Chris - Yes, you have to run iTweak each time you publish. That makes sure that the counter actually stays on the pages.
@Aldo - You mean the atls of photos? No I don’t think so. That would be to much of a hassle to work with.

Hi there,
Downloaded iTweak to add a statcounter to my iWeb site but when selecting iDisk/Web, it seems to hang. Might not be a problem with the program because in Finder I can’t open that folder either. Only under MobileMe does it actually show my site…
Any ideas would be much appreciated!

What is the exact error you are getting? Alias error? Is iDisk syncing activated? Needs to be deactivated for iTweak to work.

In ITweak, try typing your emails separated with a comma or semicolon. For example:
mail@mail.com;mail@mail.com or mail@mail.com,mail@mail.com
or maybe you need to add space. I have no idea

Been using iTweak for a weak and found it very helpful. The contact form was working in 1.45 and 46. But updated today and now i get this error message.
There has been an error while trying to add the contact form. WITH ERRROR MSG: The operation could not be completed.
Don’t know the reason why it has started to give this error. Thanks.

I used your old video to set up Statcounter with iWeb in the past, so this is my attempt to use iTweak.
The directions say to “choose the site” (from iWeb via iDisk).
However, when I go to do this, there is an alias on the Web folder
and it is greyed out. When I navigate to the folder on my desktop
there is no alias and the Web folder is active and I can see my sites.
Any suggestions?

I am guessing you have iDisk syncing activated. Make sure you deactivate that while iTweak tries to process your site.

Hi, thanks for your great tool! We’re using it to add Google Analytics code to an iWeb-published site, it’s much easier than having to edit all those pages manually. Pasting the tracking code into a HTML Snippet won’t work correctly, since iWeb uses frames instead of adding the code directly to the pagename.html-file. Without your tool, adding the code manually each time would be quite a nuisance. So again, thank you very much!

@Matt - Okay, open up the application “Console.” In the search field type “iTweak.” Then scroll down to the date for the last time you got the error and send me the selected logs via email. One of the log messages tells you iTweak failed because of a certain reason…

I think that the newest version of iTweak is faulty. I can’t process my site without having it pop up with all the error messages. I tried reinstalling it, and giving the published site agin, as well as republishing my iWeb site.

no, I chose the site, dragged in the favicon, typed in the url etc…the process takes “forever” and I get a series of error messages, that’s just one of them. Or the application stalls and I have to force quit. I have tried this several times.

I can definitely tell you that the error you previously stated ONLY comes up if you didn’t choose your site. For your other errors, send me a mail with the logs attached. iTweak creates a log entry each time it gets an error. Logs can be found in the console application.

I am testing out iTweak and such with iWeb, I usually do my main website work in Dreamweaver but am trying iWeb to do a second simple website with basic php stuff. After a bit of experimentation I figured out how to get the phP form to work. That is nice. I am looking for a way to implement interactive user forums with iWeb — anyway to do that? Has anyone here seen such templates for iWeb?
Also how do you get the second thank you page in the php contact form to not show in your iWeb and the top menu it creates? You mention in tutorial but not how to do that. It is not obvious to me.

I guess the only way to implement a forum in an iWeb site would be to iFrame it.
As for the hiding the thank you page, if you open up the Page inspector in iWeb there is a checkmark which you can untick to not make the page show up in the navigation bar.

Maaaax! You said it would work after the 1.5.1 update… I never manage to get a favicon on my website. Publish to folder->Get a fresh favicon.ico of that Web site yu suggested (just to be sure)->Type in the site name->Add the favion via Drag&Drop->Choose the published folder->Precess Site… Right? But it wont play fair! i get this everytime “There has been an error while trying to add the favicons.”

I’ve tried to use itweak to add hit statcounter to my iweb site. The program is just what I’ve been looking for in order to add code to multiple pages in one hit. I keep getting the same message as Eduardo, namely “There has been an error while trying to add the hitcounter”. I’ve read through all the posts and have made sure that idisk isn’t running published all in iweb and re-installed itweak all to no avail. Keep getting this error message. any suggestionds greatly appreciated.- Great product and interface if I could just get it to work.

I am a novice programmer and I am learning the tricks of the trade, the hardest thing that I have come across is making everything viewable by every computer. But that is not the reason for me here today. I have attempted to install google analytical on the Iweb site that I generated but when I do a publish to the internet the analytical is lost. First, thank you very much for this resource. It is a great help.
I have added the form, and it works beautifully. However, I want to just have one text box for people fill in text and then submit. When I edited the PHP to take out the other boxes and leave only one, it did that, but when I would try to submit online it would give me an error asking me to fill in all boxes first.
Where in the PHP code can I take this requirement out?

Hi, great software!
Crashes after coming out the prefs, but I’m not really bothered due to there only being one option in here anyhow ;p
One idea for this great software - after choosing the published site and navigating to the .Mac/MobileMe folder on the iDisk. Then why not display this just under the button after it’s been selected. So there’s visual feedback and you can see the correct folder has been chosen. ATM, it’s kinda like flying blind..
I came across this program because i was searching for ways to use Google Analytics with my iWeb site. Thank you!

Thanks for this application.
I managed to get this to work from the above instructions on godaddy hosting. One thing which fooled me at first was a elay in the new files being recognized on godaddy. After one hour it was working.
Also, to see the invisible files you can open up terminal and type:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
After that, force quit Finder and you’ll see the files.
I have one issue though - I am asked to login twice??
I have read on other forums that this can be fixed by adding an extra / but where should I do this?

I cannot for the life of me get the favicon to work. I have probably spent 10 hours trying, lol. when I go to “choose published site”, I cannot click on “web” - the icon is just a short cut and is faded out.
Please help.

I use the crap out of it for websites but I want the new iLife 2009 since the new iWeb 2009 does SUCH A BETTER JOB of handling website publishing for more of a management perspective.
When will iTweak be ready for 2009’s iWeb? Please, please hurry. I’m so sick of overwriting my own iTweaks and iMaps when I only change one thing on one page.

itweak is working ok with firefox but not with safari 3.2.1 i am using my mac 10.4.11

When ever i run iTweak…it keeps giving 3 error messages:
1 “There has been an error while trying to create a backup of your site.”
2 “There has been an error while trying to add the hitcounter.”
3 “There has been an error while trying to add the contact form.”
Help please!

Thanks for making this program. I will have to apologize in advance if this was brought up ahead of me, but after skimming through the posts, i didn’t really see it.
My problem is that iTweak would just STOP working or HANG when i select the published site when im trying to do a favicon or backup.
After clicking Select in the ‘choose published site window’, nothing happens. I’m thinking it’s because my A.’sync .mac’ is on? (i cant really turn this off for some reason: when i uncheck the box in preferences it checks itself back??!??) or B. im using wireless connection on a satellite internet connection on top of that (im traveling). i just needed to confirm if these ARE really the reason why.

Hi,
I was able to get the favicon to work … for about 5 minutes. Now, no matter what I do the favicon isn’t showing up. Supposed to launch my site in about 2 hours.
Can you help me?

This is a site i designed iweb 1.1.2 on panther but i cant add any functionaility to it because itweak wont work.

I am having trouble choosing the published site! -> its on my idisk, if i choose it, itweak starts doing sth and after like 5 minutes it gives me an error (Apple-script/Permissions). I am using iweb 09.

Hello Max,
I use Itwealk when I update my site. Today I got an error message and found this in the log file:

2009-04-19 17:40:08.496 iTweak[7299] Unknown class URLButton in Interface Builder file.
Do you have an idea what URLButton Itweak does not like?
Also have you noticed that sometime when you run Itweak it does work fine but it delete 4 or 5 html page on my folder (example: Home page, comment page, About us page and 2 or 3 more, always the same pages).

I have a question regarding Cooliris and imbedding their code within my site. Can I just paste the code along with the Media RSS feed into the “Hitcounter” section of iTweak- would that put it on all of my pages?

Just downloaded iTweak to work along with iWeb but I can’t figure out how this works…how do i choose the published site?? i can’t find the file in my computer when I click on that button…any tips or anything would be appreciated…I’m sure it’s really obvious…it’s just been a long day and I’d appreciate the assistance…Thanks…

I agree with Samantha…how do I choose my published site? Where is it on my computer? I’ve searched everywhere, but have no idea where iWeb keeps the published site files. Everything works great up to that point.

i used itweak to enable commenting on my site. but after 2 or 3 comments, it got cut and isnt visible anymore on the site. how will i be able to make the page automatically resize to accommodate all comments. by the way, i love iTweak.. thanks so much.

I just downloaded iTweak and ran the update to v1.5.3. I launched the app, but in Back Up> iWeb version, I only see iWeb 06 and 08. I am running iWeb 09 and publish to third Party FTP server Laughing Squid, which specializes in artists and creative professionals. Will iTweak work for me? I want to add a Favicon, allow comments, password protect my site, and maybe add a hit counter,
More Questions:
Why Back up my site if I am running Mac OS 10.5.7 and do backups with Time Machine?
Why add a hit counter if I am using Google analytics and my Host’s analytics?

Stat Code in iTweak worked only first time. Now it delete all content in html menu pages, there is no a single letter even. 10.4.11 iWeb 08. Thanks.
