Thank you for the tutorial…before I proceed I wanted to make sure that my domain forwarding will not effect the process. I currently forward my chosen domain (http://www.andyluse.net) to my .mac site (http://web.mac.com/aluse/iWeb/Andy/Welcome.html). When it is listed on Google i want the http://www.andyluse.net to appear rather than the .mac url. Which one should I enter on the sitemap page that you referenced on your tutorial?

    Thank you very much.

  8. Max Karreth posted:

you always have to enter the .mac address!! except for step 1.

you cannot get a forwarded domain on google. the reason for this is that the sitemap is not on the forwarded domain server - therefore google cannot take that url

Awesome site, thanks for the help. Does placing “key words behind images and in invisible color help add to the hits for sites?

  14. Max Karreth posted:

    id say yes :-D
it adds invisible content to your site that google still picks up.

Thank you for your excellent site, Max. I am having some difficulty with creating a sitemap for my webpage at the moment; when I paste the sitemap into textedit (in plain text format) and I try to save it on the idisk, I am unable to save it (the save button becomes gray and a non-option once I click on the idisk). Can you help me with this? Thank you very much for your time.
    Sincerely, Amy

Thankyou so much for your excellent tutorial. I have been going round in circles for weeks. Couldn’t have done this without you.

Amy, I had the same problem, I’m no techno wizz but try this:

    Apple - System Preferences - .mac - idisk - idisk sync:off

I had this turned on and had the same problem. Good Luck

@amy: I have no answer to this! try posting in the apple discussion forums!

@adam: not sure what you mean?

@karen: thanks for helping out :-D

Thank you so much for the time you have put in to help us amateurs get things out there on the web. I created my site as a Christmas gift for my bro in law, and believe me, I couldn’t have done it without you!

Fantastically clear if mysterious - thank you so much.

I followed it to the last detail but still it showed errors on google, so I will wait and see. I was also forwarding my domain to dotmac, but have redone it using the dotmac url. Any way of getting my forwarding url to show instead of dot mac?

It is so great there are people like you out there- thanks again

Amazing I found your tutorial (for 1.x “to folder”) the day you got them back up. I had just uploaded my new website, and then learned of the iWeb issues regarding search engines. Your tutorial was great and very clear….. thank you! Only thing I couldn’t do was ping google, since your ping box just says error404…. been looking where else I could ping google, any suggestions? Also downloaded iTweak…. tried adding a favicon, but it didn’t seem to work…. will try again later. Thanks again!

Hi great tutorial, thanks a lot, am now on google but my search result (the underlined bit in google) says ‘home’ rather than my url. Any idea how to get this changed?
    thanks

  29. Max Karreth posted:

@Steve - I am planning to put the pinger back up. For iTweak, what error are you getting? None?

@Rob - Sadly I dont have an answer to that. THough, I think you can find the answer in the Google Webmaster Tools.
