iMap 2.5 Out Now

After having received some feedback from another developer, I went into heavily improving the backend coding of iMap. iMap has been made more stable and better working in nearly all processes. The only thing that still lacks is a stunning interface. Though that will come with version 2.6. The new version of has three main new enhancements:

  • iMap now has a full helpbook that will help you in understanding the errors and getting rid of them without sending me a mail.

  • iMap has now been updated to support MobileMe as well. You just have to select your option in the preference pane in iMap.
  • iMaps backend has been heavily improved. One of the improvements is a complete log system. iMap now logs every action it takes. Whenever you get an error, iMap will log it. You can then mail me these logs and I’ll look into fixing the problem or helping you out.

The update is downloadable via iMap itself. If you have automatic updates set in iMaps preferences, it will automatically notify you of the update. Otherwise you can just select “Check for Updates…” from the “iMap” menu item in iMap.

Enjoy the update!

iMap Updated to Version 2.3

Finally we have updated iMap to version 2.3! Here is a list of what is new:

  • Meta-Tags issue fixed
  • Snippets window added
  • A preference window added with several options:
» Choose to create your URL with or without your site folder if you publish to a folder
» Choose how often you update your sitemap
» Create Robots.txt files for or against Google
  • Sparkle updating service

As always, updates will be sent out via email.

Update: A little bug-fix for the meta-tags end missing is now corrected as well. Thanks Ann for pointing that out! Thus, iMap 2.4 is already out!

The tutorial has been updated and spit into two parts:

The tutorial was aimed to be much simpler and shorter. If you however still wish to look at the look video tutorial, then feel free to do so:

The TimeOut Error

So everyone! MacBookAir has just been released and I am actually thinking of getting one of them.

Now, iMap and iWebExpander are having some issues with the TimeOut error if you use .Mac.

The reason for this error is that .Mac is simply to slow. Thus, my software is not receiving any answer and so freezes. I’ve recommended to use a faster Internet Connection – but still, people get this error. I am also tired of answer a zillion mails about this. So – I will fix it once and for all.

I have had an update ready for quite a while – but I am planning to make a better fix. This fix will get rid of this error for 100%! So bear with me. I am planning to release the updates next week.

No need to worry!

Update: It’s solved! Updates will be sent out next week. :-D

Merry Christmas!

It’s the 23rd today and I am all out happy knowing that tomorrow is Christmas. Yes, I know, most of you are wondering why on the 24th! Well, Europeans celebrate it at night on the 24th and Americans on the 25th. In any case, Merry Christmas!

Yep I know, I am not that kind to just make a post for fun. There is always some info to it. Today I am going to growl on about some boring future of my apps and the site itself.

What I am to do first is to finish iCordion. It has been much anticipated by many of you – but I simply did not have enough time until now to do all of this! Keep in mind that I am only doing this site has a hobby, not full business. :-D Yet, I promise that it will come and it will come like hell. It already has some 40 complete new functions that could make iCordion end up as a whole web-design application rather than just a simple app that makes jQuery Accordions!

iMap! iMap has been quite a mess in trying to make it perfect because the sitemaps not always validated with each site and thus gave errors with Google. In any case, I haven’t got a mail for the past few weeks about this issue and so iMap 2.2 is quite stable with it.
Are there still things to be improved? Yes I’ve got several things that I want to add and change. One of them is a updating system as well as saving values for multiple sites which can then be selected via a sidebar. That’s 08 stuff, nothing for 2007!

iWebExpander is my little app that hasn’t been getting much attention. It is going to be updated as well. The updating system will go in there as well. I will also add a basic search-replace function that will allow you to add much, much more to your sites without having to manually edit the HTML code.

With this post I would also say that iWebExpander has been downloaded over 10 000 times! This is just amazing. Incredible – at least from my point of view. :-D

The tutorials are changing as well! The videos will be updated to Leopard and they will be arranged differently in this blog. I had them as separate pages, which makes them difficult to find in searches and so I will move them all into the Tutorials category.

The iWeb Templates – god – totally forgot about them. They will return – but at the moment I have no clue when that will be.

Lastly we have my recent entry into the Wordpress world. The themes are being download like crazy and so I am planning to make a new one as well.

So, that’s all the things that I have planned for the future, that at least you are allowed to know about – other things that are secret are also coming!

Oh – totally forgot about Macvotes.com. It hasn’t been getting much attention either – but I will give it a fancy design and then make it public and then, it will be a great site!
